Our 6th grade class had a wonderful week of Environmental Studies at Caritas CYO retreat in Occidental,CA. They learned about ecosystems, recycling, composting, and environmental advocacy. Many thanks to Mrs. Gauntt, Ms. Lipscomb, Ms. Cunningham, and Mr. Hubbard for chaperoning.
In 7th grade, the students were invited to "blast off" - with their bottle rockets, that is. The Oakland Junior Arts and Science staff came to SLOT to teach the finer points of aerodynamics, fluid mechanics and air pressure. It was exciting for everyone to pump the tire pump, waiting for the moment their rocket went airborne. Some rockets soared straight up; others gained more direction in the horizontal plane. well done, Tiger engineers-in-training.
The 8th grade students are anxiously awaiting their acceptance letters to high school. Congratulations to Danielle Pohlson for being nominated for a Presidential Scholarship at Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School. We are so proud of all our students.
Second trimester recognition awards will be given after our school liturgy Thursday, March 19th. Awards will include Honor Roll for students in grades 4 - 8th and Outstanding Achievement and Perfect Attendance for students K - 8.
